A Western Buddhist Spiritual Practice Centre in the Karma-Kagyu Tradition
by the Grace of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa,
Urgyen Trinley Dorje
Welcome! We
are an international group of spiritual practitioners, masters and students,
affiliated with the Gyalwa Karmapa, spiritual head of the Kagyu
Order of Tibetan Buddhism.
The meaning of life involves the whole of humanity in an ongoing spiritual
evolution toward greater consciousness. Each individual can participate
in this progress through an endeavor to attain Enlightenment.
In our case it is the gentle Buddhist Path, treasured for centuries
in the East—India, Tibet, Burma, China, Thailand, etc.—that
teaches the way. This Path is a timeless and universal system of spiritual
development guided by the practice of meditation.
Relevant to anyone of any background, meditation cultivates a life of
inner peace, happiness, love, compassion, wisdom and insight. Ours is
a "meditation practice" orientated fellowship.
We also believe that a fundamental aspect of the Path consists in working
to make the world a better place for all sentient beings, through acts
of charity and kindness. Under the direction of His
Holiness the Karmapa, head of the Kagyu school of Buddhist practice,
we are guided by the spiritual leadership of three exulted Lamas. These
are the Venerable Bardok
Chusang Rinpoche, the Venerable
Karma Gyurme Rinpoche and the Venerable Kunpal Rinpoche. The official
abbot of our Fellowship is the most Venerable
Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche.
The Dharma Fellowship is the joint venture of all its members and our
website reflects this. May this site be of some good in the general distribution
of spiritual wisdom and knowledge throughout the world.

Path of Mahamudra

The path of Mahamudra, a Sanskrit term which in Tibetan is known as
"Chag-chen," the Great Mudra or Seal, is often referred to
as the "practice lineage" of Buddhism, the heart-essence
of the Buddha's teaching. The path of Mahamudra meditation is a clear
cutting through to seeing the true nature of mind just as it is. It
is an immediate attainment of Enlightenment, as a result of clearly
recognizing the true condition.
By following the yogic teachings of Mahamudra one sets oneself consciously
on the path whose ultimate fruit is Nirvana. Thereby liberation from
the interminable cycle of birth and death is acquired. Read
